Turnip Casserole Recipe
Ingredients:
3 Tbsps of crumbs (bread)
1/2 c of cheese; shredded
1 c of milk
2 Tbsps of flour
1/3 c of celery; diced
2/3 c of bell pepper (green); diced
1 pc of onion; sliced thinly
2 Tbsps of butter
1&1/2 lbs of turnip; skins removed and sliced thinly
Salt
Pepper
Instructions:
Boil turnips in water that has been salted until it has become fork tender. Remove all water. Saute onions, celery and peppers using butter ’till fork tender. Dust flour over then continue to cook for a minute.
Mix in the milk then stir ’till mixture becomes thick. Add the cheese, pepper then salt. Mix the cheese mixture with the turnips and decant to a baking pan. Layer crumbs over top then broil until browned. Good for four persons.
