4 Easy Casserole Cooking Techniques

4 Easy Casserole Cooking Techniques

Each recipe for creating a casserole holds unique flavors and ingredients, although its basic method in cooking is actually very similar with the rest of other casserole dishes. These includes four basic steps in cooking a perfect and flavorful meat-casserole.

First Step: Arrange flour onto the plate. Then season it using salt and pepper. Once done add in meat then toss it around for the entire meat to get an even coating. Simply shake the rest off of any excess.

Another way to do it would be placing flour that was seasoned inside a plastic bag (the sealable kind). Add in meat then shake the bag for your meat to get its coating all over. This is a mess-free way to easily season your meat around. When using this method your flour would allow your casserole’s liquid to thicken.

Second Step: Heat the oil inside your ovenproof, flameproof casserole baking dish and when this isn’t available use a large non-stick frying pan instead on medium level heat. Then add in your meat, cook meat for about two to three minutes ’til they turn brown. Then transfer it over to a plate.

Once done with this procedure; repeat the whole process with the rest of your meats, then just simply reheat your casserole baking pan or dish in between each batch to maintain the appropriate temperature of heat.

Third Step: Add in that little amount of additional oil unto the dish/pan. Then add in vegetables like celery, carrots, onions and other added ingredients, like prosciutto or bacon. Then cook the whole thing by stirring it up using your wooden-spoon, for the next two to three minutes, ’til your vegetables turn a bit golden and soft.

Fourth Step: Put the rest of your meat back to your baking pan or baking dish. When utilizing a pan, have the other vegetables and meat transferred into your ovenproof and flameproof dish. Then stir the rest of your liquid content ingredients including your canned-tomatoes, wine, stock, and include in spices or herbs when desired.

Then have your dish covered really tightly then bake inside your oven as per instructions on the recipe.

Create your Own Casserole Ahead of Time

An advantage in creating casseroles would be its ability of being cooked beforehand. When possible, create casseroles at least a day beforehand and then store it inside the refrigerator – allowing its flavors to really intensify for your entire dish.

In freezing your casserole ahead of time, simply cool it off after it has cooked, then have it frozen inside any airtight containers and this could last to a maximum of 3 months. Keep in mind not to add in dairy-products that includes cream prior to freezing it or else the entire mixture would curdle.
