French Quarter Green Beans Recipe
Ingredients:
3 pkgs of frozen beans (frozen, French-style)
3 Tbsps of butter (or margarine)
10-3/4 oz of canned soup (cream of mushroom, undiluted)
3 oz of softened cream cheese
1 tsp of onion flakes (dried)
8 oz of canned chestnuts (water, sliced); drained
1/4 tsp of salt (garlic)
1/4 tsp of pepper (ground, black)
1-1/2 c of shredded cheese (Cheddar)
2-1/2 oz of packed almonds (slivered)
Paprika
Instructions:
Cook the beans as stated in its package instructions; drain well. Melt the butter inside a (Dutch) oven then add cream cheese and soup; cook above gentle heat till cheese melts and the mixture becomes smooth, while constantly stirring.
Take out from the heat then add beans, chestnuts, dried (onion) flakes, garlic, shredded cheese, salt, and pepper; stir thoroughly.
Spoon the mixture on a slightly greased 1-3/4 quart casserole. Place almonds on top then sprinkle paprika. Place inside the oven and bake (375 degrees F), uncovered, for forty-five mins.
