Cable Car Tuna Casserole Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2 tsp of thyme
6 oz of egg noodles (cooked)
1/4 tsp of salt
10.75 oz of canned soup (cream of celery)
1/2 c of milk
1/2 c of mayonnaise
1 c of fresh celery; chopped coarsely
1/3 c of bell pepper (green); chopped
1/3 c of chestnuts (water); sliced
1/3 c of scallions (whole); chopped
14 oz of tuna (canned); drained then flaked
3/4 c of grated cheese (sharp Cheddar)
1/4 c of almonds (toasted); chopped
Instructions:
Preheat the oven (425 degrees F). Combine thyme, salt, and noodles inside a 2-qt casserole dish. Set on the side.
Combine milk and soup inside the saucepan above moderate heat; stir constantly till smooth then add tuna, bell pepper, celery, chestnuts, mayonnaise, scallions, and cheese, but save two tablespoons. Heat then stir thoroughly till cheese melts. Add the sauce onto the casserole; mix them well.
Sprinkle remaining cheese with almonds on top. Bake inside preheated oven for 20 mins till slightly brown and bubbly.
