Broccoli Cauliflower Casserole Recipe
Ingredients:
3/4 c of soft breadcrumbs
1 pc of onion (large); chopped
16 oz of broccoli cuts (frozen, or 8 oz fresh steamed)
16 oz of cauliflower florets (frozen, or 8 oz fresh steamed)
2 Tbsps of margarine (or butter)
2 Tbsps of flour
1/2 tsp of crushed basil (dried)
1/2 tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of salt
1/4 tsp of pepper (black)
1-1/4 c of milk
6 oz of cream cheese (with chives); cut up
3 Tbsps of grated cheese (Parmesan)
2 Tbsps of margarine (or butter); melted
Instructions:
Preheat the oven (350 degrees F). Cook the cauliflower and broccoli as stated in their package instructions. Drain thoroughly and place on a saucepan. Place on the side.
Cook the onion with margarine till soft, but don’t brown it. Add salt, pepper, flour, garlic, and basil; stir thoroughly then add the milk and thoroughly stir. Cook till bubbly and thick. Add the cream cheese then stir melted; add onto the mixture of vegetables then stir thoroughly.
Transfer the mixture on a 2-qt casserole. Combine (melted) margarine, breadcrumbs, and cheese; toss them well and sprinkle onto the mixture. Place inside preheated oven; bake it for 25-30 mins, uncovered, or till heated thoroughly.
